Practical Applications for Solar Power Technologies

March 2nd, 2011 by Coleen Regis | No Comments | Filed in Wind Power

Solar power is energy, usually in the form of electricity, which comes from sunlight. The scale of the energy conversion project usually determines the technology used. Small systems, like those used to power homes or small businesses usually use photovoltaic cells. Businesses that produce a lot of energy, such as utility companies, often use Concentrated Solar Power systems. Since solar power cannot be produced in the absence of sunlight, some type of energy storage is needed if electricity is to be used at night time.

The long-term damage caused by green house gases is more apparent than ever before. Greenhouse gases rain a damaging viral strain on the earth’s Eco system. Our earth has become diseased by these gases and we do not have a cure. Although the government is spending billions on alternative sources, we should not wait but take control and do our part to stop polluting the atmosphere. Individuals have spent their time and money to make solar panel guides that are affordable and even easy to build.

Subsidies for Renewable Energy

February 28th, 2011 by Coleen Regis | No Comments | Filed in Wind Power

Subsidies are financial incentives, usually paid by governments to encourage the production of something. There are many reasons that a particular product might be beneficial to the community, but not economically feasible to individuals and businesses. Many products are subsidized to support local businesses, reduce the amount of imported goods, provide employment and encourage environmentally friendly practices. The energy industries (coal, oil, nuclear, alternative) have always worked in an environment where subsidies have been used. In recent years the trend is to encourage renewable energy sources (such as solar, wind, biomass) at the expense of fossil fuels such as coal and oil. Alternative energy subsidies include Feed-in Tariffs and financial incentives to photovoltaics.

Solar Energy Advantages-Abundant And Renewable And In-Exhaustible Energy Source

October 14th, 2010 by Joseph P Connor | No Comments | Filed in Wind Power

Fossil fuels and uranium reserves have started perishing. But the demand for energy has increased substantially.. So there is a need for renewable source of energy. According to Hubbert peak theory, in this epoch of peak oil (the maximum rate of global petroleum extraction) there is a rapid decrease in the energy resources. The new research shows that our consumption and retrieval are in a dangerous ratio of 3:1.
